PRIVACY

Last updated: 12 October 2026

My name is Jérémie Dupuis. I am an independent developer, in France, and I make Abako alone. So I am the person responsible for the data described on this page. For any question: hello@abako.games.

This page covers the website abako.games and the Abako app on iPhone and on Android. I tried to write it simply. If a sentence is not clear, write to me.

In short

Abako shows no ads. Abako does not sell your data, and does not give it to anyone to use elsewhere. There is no tracking tool from another company in the game. You can play without creating an account.

What the game keeps, and why

So that the game works. At your first action in the game, Abako creates a random player ID. It does not have your name or your address. It keeps your games, your stars, your streak, your Elo rating, your medals and your belts. The game also gives you a nickname, which you can change. Other players can see this nickname in the rankings and in the Circles.

Your country. The game shows a flag next to your nickname and keeps a ranking by country. To guess your country, it looks at the time zone of your device, its language, and the country that our host links to your connection. We only keep the country code (for example FR). We do not keep your IP address or a precise location. You can change your country by hand.

If you create an account. The account lets you find your progress on another device. You can create it with your email address, with Apple or with Google. We then keep your email address. If you use Google, or Apple on the website, this service may also send us the name of your account. We do not use it.

If you write to me. When you send feedback from the game, or when you answer a message I wrote to you in the game, your text is kept and reaches me by email. If you leave an email address in your feedback, I use it to answer you. No other player sees these messages.

To understand how the game is used. The game records simple steps: you arrived, you touched the screen, you started a game, you shared your result. To link these steps, it stores a random visitor ID on your device. It also records the app version, the type of device (phone, tablet or computer) and, on the website, the browser. These measurements stay with us. I use them to see what works, to spot robots and to prevent cheating.

On the website only. If an error happens, a technical report goes to Sentry, a service that helps me fix bugs. This report does not contain your identity. If you turn on browser notifications, we keep the technical address used to send them, the hour you chose and your time zone.

What the game does not take. Your contacts, your photos, your microphone, your precise location and your health data. There is nothing to buy in Abako today, so there is no payment data.

Reminders

In the app, if you accept, a reminder tells you once a day at most. Your phone schedules this reminder itself. Nothing goes through our servers. Child profiles never get a reminder.

What the app and the website store on your device

The game stores on your device your settings, your progress waiting to be sent, and your visitor ID. On the website, two cookies keep your game when Safari erases the data of a website after a few days: ab_sess (400 days at most) and ab_tk (30 days). These are our own cookies. There is no advertising cookie and no cookie from another company.

Legal bases

Keeping your games, your nickname, your country and your account is what is needed to give you the service you ask for when you play (article 6.1.b of the GDPR). Measuring how the game is used, spotting robots and preventing cheating is my legitimate interest in running and improving the game (article 6.1.f). Reminders and notifications only start with your agreement, given in the settings of your device.

Who else processes this data

These companies work for Abako and do not use your data for themselves:

When data goes through the United States, this transfer is covered by the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission or by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, depending on the provider.

How long

Visit records are erased after 13 months. Everything else is kept as long as your account or your profile exists. If you delete your account, everything goes with it.

Children

Children play Abako, often on a parent's device. The game does not ask them for a name or an email address, shows them no ads, and sends no reminder to child profiles. If you are a parent and want your child's data erased, write to me.

Your rights

You can ask me to see your data, to correct it, to erase it, to receive it in a file, or to stop using it. Write to hello@abako.games and give your nickname. I answer within one month. If my answer does not suit you, you can contact the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).

Delete your account and your data

With an account: in the app or on the website, go to Me, then Account, then "Delete my account". Everything is erased: profiles, games, streak, messages, visit records.

Without an account: write to hello@abako.games with your nickname, from any address. I erase your profile and its data by hand.

If this page changes

I update the date at the top of the page. If the change is important (for example a new service that processes your data), I also say it in the game.
