AbakoDAILY

The numbers round, every day

Abako Daily is a free mental arithmetic game. Every day at midnight there are four new rounds, five on Sundays, the same for every player in the world. You get four to six numbers and a target between 15 and 999. You reach the target by combining the numbers with the four operations: add, subtract, multiply, divide. You can use each number only once. A game takes two to three minutes.

No timer, and that is on purpose

On the TV show Countdown, you get thirty seconds. NYT Digits had a clock too. Abako Daily has none. The idea is simple: without stress, you search longer and you find more. The day's four rounds, five on Sundays, get harder one after the other, and the week gets harder day by day, up to the Sunday boss.

Why this game exists

In August 2023, The New York Times closed Digits, its daily numbers game, after 120 puzzles, with nothing to replace it. In August 2024, French TV stopped Des chiffres et des lettres after 52 years on air; the British show Countdown is based on it. Its daily slot had already ended in September 2022. In the same years, daily word games appeared everywhere. Numbers had no daily game left. Abako Daily brings one back.
